Reactive vs. preventive maintenance
Reactive maintenance waits for a machine to break down before fixing it — the most expensive way to run a fleet, because the failure always happens at the worst possible time, usually mid-shift on your site.
Preventive maintenance is the opposite discipline: inspect, service, and replace wear parts on a planned schedule so faults are caught before they become breakdowns. At Tahalof Al-Khair this is not an afterthought — it is how we operate a company-owned fleet, and it is the main reason our units mobilize on time.
Scheduled service intervals
Every machine follows a service schedule tied to its operating hours — engine oil and filters, hydraulic oil, fuel and air filters, greasing, coolant, and track or tire checks each fall on their own interval.
Because the fleet is ours, we control those intervals directly instead of relying on a third party. Service is logged per unit, so we always know where each machine stands and what it needs next — no guesswork, no skipped services.
Genuine spare parts and an in-house workshop
We maintain our fleet in our own workshop using genuine spare parts. That matters for two reasons: genuine parts last longer and protect the machine's core systems, and an in-house workshop means we do not wait in an external queue when a unit needs attention.
The result is higher availability. A machine that needs service is back in rotation quickly, and a machine that is out on your site is one we know inside-out.
Pre-dispatch inspection
No machine leaves our yard for your site without a pre-dispatch inspection. We verify fluid levels, hydraulics, brakes and steering, safety systems, lights, and the condition of buckets, forks, booms, or drums — whatever defines that machine.
This is the checkpoint that keeps a small issue in our yard instead of on your critical path. A unit that arrives already inspected is a unit that starts working on day one.
The operator as the first line of defense
Preventive maintenance does not stop at the workshop. Our certified operators run a daily walk-around check before startup — leaks, tire or track condition, damage, and safety devices — and report anything unusual immediately.
Because the operator sees the machine every shift, they catch developing problems long before a scheduled service would. It is the cheapest and fastest early-warning system a fleet has.
What it means for your schedule
For you, preventive maintenance is not a technical detail — it is schedule certainty. It means the machine you booked arrives ready, breaks down less, and, if an issue does arise, is backed by an owner-operator who can respond fast instead of a broker who passes the problem along.
Across a fleet of 472+ machines, that discipline is what lets us commit to a mobilization date and keep it.
